In 2022, artist Ximena Izquierdo presented an exhibition at the Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts, featuring three murals: Cellulose, Constellations, and Territory, and works with soils and stones from northern Chile. The pieces explored Atacama Desert geography through diverse techniques and materialities.

Ximena Izquierdo explains: “Finding visuality in the natural environment requires me to cross into scientific disciplines, where everything appears random, without purpose, yet everything takes on a regular meaning, the laws that lead to how matter is structured, laws that can be established by the possibility that nature provides us to be known to its deepest intimacy.”
